Item 1:  Membership Dues and Renewals

In May, the Executive Officers (Dave Harvey, Diana Hawkins, and Steve Nesbitt) held a phone conference regarding the rising cost of the printing of our Society's Newsletter and postage rates.  Because a large number of our members are delinquent with their annual dues, we have no choice but to established a new policy to combat this situation. Our new policy will remedy the existing situation without raising our membership dues at this time. We believe this change will allow us to retain our current membership and, perhaps, even increase our membership because our annual dues are not too expensive.

Our New Renewal Policy:

1.)  If a member's dues are more the 60 days in arrears, you will no longer receive the Newsletter.

2.) The renewal date of your membership dues will be placed on your mailing labels. It will be your responsibility to keep your membership current.

3.)  A renewal form will become part of the back cover of the Newsletter, and Instructions will accompany the renewal form on how to submit your annual dues to our Society's secretary, Diana Hawkins.

We believe these three steps will eliminate the delinquent dues situation and keep  our members in good standing. We do not want any member to miss an issue of our Society's  Newsletter.

If you have any questions regarding our new policy, feel free to contact any of the Executive Officers:  dharvey@ibydeit.org, dhawkins@ibydeit.org, or snesbitt@ibydeit.org

Thank you.

Item 2: 2009 Gathering Site Suggestions

We are currently reviewing potential locations for our 2009 N/N Gathering location. We would like our membership's input as to what location in North America would be appropriate for our annual gathering.

Please email Steve Nesbitt, Vice President, or any other Board member with your ideas about our upcoming Gathering. Email addresses and phone numbers can be found on the Contact Page of our website.

We are also looking for volunteers to be on the Planning Committee of this important Society event.

We look forward to your input and suggestions.

Thank you.

Item 3: A Message from Our Clan Chief

Edinburgh Clan Gathering -  Scotland 25-26, July 2009

Plans are well in hand for the Nesbitt/Nisbet tent at this
once-in-a-lifetime gathering of 150+ Scottish clans. The program
includes Highland Games, lots of piping and activities for families,
clan parades on the Saturday and Sunday, and an optional clan pageant in Edinburgh Castle on Saturday night. 30,000 people are expected to attend.
On Monday 27th the Clan Chief, Mark Nesbitt of that Ilk, will
lead a walking tour around Nesbitt/Nisbet sights in Edinburgh.

Recent changes in exchange rates make the journey much cheaper for those paying in dollars or euros, and a wide range of reasonably
priced accommodations are still available, including in the Pollock
Hall's student residences which is close to the site of the Gathering.
US Society President David Nesbitt Harvey IV will be attending, and we look forward to welcoming any N/Ns who are able to attend.
